Nursing Home Litigation Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee nursing home abuse and neglect cases through the stages of investigation, discovery, depositions, settlement discussions, and trial preparation.

• Develop compelling case strategies by evaluating medical records, evidence, expert reports, facility documentation, and relevant regulations.

• Create and review pleadings, motions, discovery documents, settlement agreements, and various other litigation papers.

• Perform legal research utilizing platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.

• Conduct and prepare for depositions.

• Maintain open and empathetic communication with clients and their families throughout the litigation journey.

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, forensic experts, medical specialists, and other consultants to gather evidence related to liability and damages.

• Independently oversee deadlines, case priorities, documentation, and litigation workflows in a remote environment.

• Drive cases towards favorable outcomes while exercising professional judgment, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Cultivate long-term expertise and assume greater responsibilities as experience and caseload grow.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active California Bar license in good standing.

• Experience in plaintiff-side litigation, with the capability to independently manage civil litigation cases.

• Strong skills in legal writing, research, depositions, and case strategy development.

• Proven ability to organize and handle multiple litigation cases, deadlines, and competing priorities effectively.

• Excellent and professional client communication skills, with a sensitivity to individuals and families impacted by abuse or neglect.

• Capacity to work remotely with legal technology and maintain availability Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time.

• Direct experience in nursing home abuse, elder abuse, neglect, or long-term care litigation.

• Familiarity with California skilled nursing facility regulations, including Title 22.

• Knowledge of federal nursing home requirements under OBRA and related regulations.

• Experience with medical records, healthcare experts, forensic specialists, or complex damages evidence.

• Proficiency in using Filevine, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar litigation technologies.
