Network Specialist – Permitting Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure the legal rights of occupancy and utilization of real estate/land and facility co-location for TDS facilities and equipment are secured prior to construction.

• Investigate permitting prerequisites and liaise with permitting authorities.

• Participate in meetings and engage in occasional fieldwork and travel.

• Define and estimate project scope, create tasks, and collaborate with professional service vendors to gather data and conduct studies.

• Prepare applications, negotiate and submit fees, and expedite the acquisition of permits and rights before construction begins.

• Maintain and finalize records, GIS databases, and maps.

• Oversee annual obligations, payments, bonds, insurance, and reporting requirements.

• Investigate local regulations concerning easements and right-of-entry agreements.

• Ensure adherence to legal standards and TDS policies.

• Negotiate with private property owners to obtain surveys, legal descriptions, and necessary signatures.

• Coordinate notarization, payments, public recording, and updates to records.

• Assist in lease negotiations, alerts, payments, W9 matters, location challenges, ownership changes, records research, phone communications, and document preparation.

• Support special projects and initiatives.

• Facilitate operations through vendor and risk management, metrics analysis, reporting, scheduling, communication, research, and customer service.

• Communicate via email, phone, and in-person with internal teams, contractors, customers, property owners, government permit authorities, utilities, and railroads.


⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree (or higher) –OR– 2+ years of professional work experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Voice, Data, or Video networking.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance.

• Proven experience in permitting processes.

• Desirable technical knowledge in Real Estate Law, Land Surveying, Project Management, GIS, Telecommunications, Engineering, Construction, and related fields.

• Ability to rapidly learn and understand complex tasks, assignments, requests, documents, standards, plans, and maps.

• Capability to manage, schedule, allocate resources, track, update, report status, expedite, complete, and close multiple tasks concurrently.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting cost, time, quality, and productivity standards.

• Skills in building effective professional relationships internally and externally, and negotiating fair and reasonable solutions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

• Familiarity with OneNote, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Clarity, Ariba, SAP, and AutoCAD is advantageous.

• Experience with ESRI GIS Software, geodatabase maintenance, Python scripting, complex queries, tools, and maps is desirable.
