Network Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrades of next-generation firewalls from Fortinet, Cisco, and Palo Alto.

• Support customer-facing networks and collaborate with senior engineers on network expansion, hardware refreshes, and connectivity solutions.

• Implement system and network configurations that adhere to corporate security policies and best practices.

• Provide support for SD-WAN, MPLS, and both wired and wireless Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity, including firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers.

• Oversee the lifecycle of Cradlepoint wireless edge devices using Ericsson NetCloud Manager, handling onboarding, provisioning, configuration groups, firmware upgrades, and licensing tracking.

• Deliver break/fix and change-management support for Cradlepoint deployments, including troubleshooting LTE/5G, managing RMAs, and making configuration adjustments.

• Offer multilayer technical support to customers via the Network Operations Center.

• Review and resolve service-impacting anomalies, escalating issues as necessary.

• Manage complex customer issues until resolution and escalate to senior engineering resources when needed.

• Coordinate with customers, vendors, and third-party providers to troubleshoot issues effectively.

• Accurately track issues in the ticketing system and provide customers with timely updates on progress and resolutions.

• Obtain and maintain relevant technical certifications.

• Handle company data in line with data-handling agreements, procedures, and policies.

• Complete annual compliance training and policy acknowledgements.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or University degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience of 5+ years.

• Proficient in hands-on network troubleshooting utilizing OSI model knowledge, debug commands, packet captures, routing analysis, and path analysis.

• Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco ASA/Firepower and Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center.

• Familiarity with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, access points, and switches.

• Background in Cisco routers and switches; Cisco Nexus experience is preferred.

• Knowledge of Juniper EX/QFX switches, routers, and SRX firewalls.

• Understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.

• Experience in troubleshooting SD-WAN, particularly with FortiGate SD-WAN implementations.

• Proficient in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Cradlepoint routers and wireless WAN solutions via Ericsson NetCloud Manager, including LTE/5G connectivity.

• Working knowledge of BGP and OSPF, with hands-on troubleshooting experience; IS-IS exposure is advantageous.

• Familiarity with load balancers is a plus; preferred experience with F5 LTM/GTM.

• Exposure to VMware NSX-V and NSX-T is beneficial.

• Strong understanding of MPLS concepts and troubleshooting methods.

• Extensive experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.

• AWS networking exposure, including VPC, Transit Gateway, VPN, Direct Connect, Security Groups, and NACLs, is an asset.

• Familiarity with Cloudflare services such as DNS, CDN, WAF, DDoS protection, Zero Trust/Access, and Tunnel is a plus.

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to owning incidents through to resolution in a 24/7 operational environment.

• Capacity to collaborate across shifts and time zones while sharing knowledge with colleagues.

• Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability to acquire new network technologies.

• Preferred certifications include Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Cradlepoint, but not mandatory.

• Must have legal eligibility to work in the assigned country without visa sponsorship.

• Ability to work for extended periods using a computer, keyboard, mouse, office software, and communication tools.

• Comfortable participating in frequent virtual meetings and communicating clearly in both written and verbal formats.

• Availability for occasional evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays to support 24/7 operations.
