This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Lead and enhance the overall Network Engineering team focusing on routing, switching, cloud networking, network security, visibility, and monitoring/observability.
• Take ownership of operational delivery, service health, continuous improvement, prioritization, task allocation, milestones, SLAs, and customer satisfaction.
• Mentor team members, manage performance, assist in career development, and contribute to hiring and retention efforts.
• Assess emerging technologies in networking, cloud, security, and observability, and advocate for their adoption.
• Act as an escalation point for intricate technical and operational challenges.
• Facilitate architectural decisions, major incidents, and high-risk changes in collaboration with senior engineers.
• Collaborate with program management, security operations, cloud, infrastructure, and other service tower leads.
• Manage relationships with customers and partners, representing Network Engineering in reviews and governance forums.
• Lead capacity planning, resource forecasting, and technology investment coordination.
• Ensure maintenance of documentation, runbooks, knowledge transfer, monitoring coverage, and operational readiness standards.
• Assist with audit and compliance processes.
• Advocate for automation, infrastructure-as-code practices, and modern operational methodologies.
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
• Over 5 years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering and operations.
• Experience in people leadership or technical management overseeing network engineering teams.
• Background in managed services, government, or large enterprise environments.
• In-depth hands-on and architectural knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
• Familiarity with modern routing protocols, switching fabrics, and network design principles.
• Practical experience with cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including VPCs/VNets, transit architectures, hybrid connectivity, and cloud-native services.
• Working knowledge of next-generation firewalls and SASE platforms, particularly Palo Alto Networks technologies.
• Understanding of microsegmentation, policy analysis tools, and WAF technologies.
• Experience with enterprise network monitoring and observability platforms like SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, NetBrain, ThousandEyes, ExtraHop, or Gigamon.
• Strong grasp of ITIL/ITSM, change management, and operational governance.
• Proven experience in evaluating and implementing networking, cloud, or observability technologies.
• Experience leading complex transitions, migrations, technology refreshes, or multi-domain network transformations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience with senior-level briefings and status reports.
• Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Cisco certification (CCNP/CCIE) or equivalent routing and switching experience.
• Palo Alto Networks certification (PCNSE/PCSAE or higher) or equivalent platform experience.
• Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret or higher security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Residency in Louisiana is required for the remote work model.
• Candidates located more than 60 miles from GDIT's Integrated Technology Center in Bossier City, LA will follow a remote work model.
