Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage production networks: Create, deploy, and maintain high-performance networks across various data center locations, including overseeing physical infrastructure, routing protocols, and network security.

• Network automation and tooling development: Write software solutions to automate network provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows.

• Reliability and performance assurance: Establish comprehensive monitoring systems, develop debugging tools, analyze outages, and foster ongoing reliability enhancements.

• Scaling networking infrastructure: Strategize and carry out network expansions to new locations and facilities, which includes collaborating with vendors, managing physical builds, and transitioning live traffic.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside compute, storage, and ML infrastructure teams to enhance network performance for AI workloads and resolve complex issues in distributed systems.

• Incident management: Engage in on-call rotations and take the lead in addressing network-related incidents.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in network engineering, with practical experience in constructing and managing production networks.

• Proficient software development capabilities (Python, Go, or similar) and experience in developing network automation, tooling, or infrastructure software.

• Extensive knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, VLANs, VPCs, routing, switching, and network security.

• Familiarity with the entire networking stack—from physical layer issues (cabling, optics, hardware) to software-defined networking.

• Proficient in working with Linux, command-line tools, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Proven ability to debug complex issues across distributed systems that involve network, compute, and application layers.

• Excellent communication skills and the capability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
