This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop, implement, and sustain standardized design templates for telecommunications infrastructures, which encompass cabinets, remote huts, points of presence, and expansions of central offices.
• Create and oversee pre-engineered layouts, power architectures, battery arrangements, and material specifications.
• Establish and uphold approved standards for equipment and materials, including rectifiers, batteries, generators, transfer switches, racking systems, cable management solutions, and associated infrastructure.
• Define and enforce standards for drawings, labeling, naming conventions, and documentation.
• Evaluate current facilities against established standards, identify areas for improvement, and formulate remediation strategies.
• Maintain version-controlled standards, typical drawings, and reference designs.
• Document and manage any site-specific deviations as necessary.
• Design telecommunications facilities and their supporting infrastructures, such as DC power and battery systems, standby generation, commercial power integration, grounding and bonding, cable management, and environmental support systems.
• Oversee projects from concept through detailed design, construction support, and the creation of as-built documentation.
• Create bills of materials, cost estimates, and technical documentation for procurement, capital planning, and network expansion.
• Provide technical leadership in facilities and power design.
• Assist in establishing and refining organizational standards, processes, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Network Operations, Field Services, internal stakeholders, field technicians, contractors, and vendors.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in telecommunications infrastructure design.
• Experience in central offices, inside plant settings, data centers, or closely related electrical design and installation positions.
• Strong knowledge of -48 VDC power distribution, battery systems, standby power generation, and AC electrical distribution.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret and create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment layouts, and other related technical drawings.
• Experience in developing bills of materials (BOMs), conducting quantity takeoffs, and preparing design documentation.
• Capability to work independently in a remote or distributed work environment.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders, field technicians, contractors, and vendors.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, including remote and rural areas.
