This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee a group of Network Construction Managers to address construction needs within the designated area of responsibility.
• Assist the Manager of Network Construction in facilitating communication and collaboration with the NOC, Engineering, Field Operations, and Change Management teams.
• Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), operational deliverables, and supporting workflows.
• Stay informed about the technologies currently in use and those in development.
• Aid in managing the CAPEX and OPEX budgets for the assigned area.
• Ensure quality service by understanding, conveying, and enforcing organizational standards.
• Mentor and develop Network Construction Managers, identify training needs, and promote employee career growth.
• Manage a team that delivers network maintenance and restoration assistance 24/7, throughout the year.
• Organize and prioritize workloads for both internal network construction resources and external vendors.
• Foster partnerships with utility companies, municipalities, permitting agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee external vendors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Conduct initial construction reviews in line with project specifications.
• Supervise site construction activities, including schedules, resources, and project execution.
• Guarantee that all tasks are accurately recorded within project tracking systems.
• Coordinate permitting and licensing activities.
• Develop and review permit and construction plans.
• Engage in vendor evaluation and selection processes.
• Ensure that all work adheres to Zayo construction standards, processes, and procedures.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of construction experience is required.
• At least three (3) years of direct telecommunications experience is necessary.
• A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory construction experience is required; three (3) to five (5) years is preferred.
• Direct supervision and management of employees is essential.
• Experience in fiber engineering design, splicing, and/or construction implementation.
• Proficiency in using optical testing equipment, including OTDR, PMD, and Optical Spectrum Analyzer tools.
• Working knowledge of aerial and underground network construction standards.
• Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards is required.
