Network Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain network automation solutions for provisioning, configuration, and management.

• Automate the configuration, provisioning, and change management of network devices based on Cisco IOS.

• Create and uphold automation scripts and workflows utilizing Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, and similar tools.

• Integrate network automation into CI/CD pipelines.

• Implement Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions for adaptive and scalable network architectures.

• Work collaboratively with cloud and DevOps teams on networking environments across multiple cloud platforms.

• Enhance network workflows to boost efficiency, minimize errors, and improve operational performance.

• Monitor and resolve issues related to automation processes and network provisioning pipelines.

• Document automation workflows, standards, and best practices for enterprise application.

• Partner with stakeholders to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance network environments across multi-cloud and on-premises systems.


⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience in network administration, automation, or similar roles.

• Senior-level responsibility for network design and automation projects.

• Extensive hands-on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and managing Cisco network infrastructure.

• Strong familiarity with Cisco IOS, including CLI configuration and troubleshooting.

• Proven automation coding experience with production-quality automation scripts.

• Expertise in Cisco networking and configuration/automation of Cisco IOS.

• Proficient in network automation and orchestration.

• Scripting experience with Python and Bash.

• Understanding of SDN, NFV, and cloud-native networking.

• Experience with tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for network automation.

• Capability to design automation solutions that balance performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Must be eligible for obtaining DHS Suitability clearance.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills, and communication proficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Experience with DevOps methodologies in multi-cloud environments is desirable.

• A dedicated workspace and reliable internet connectivity are required.

• Ability to engage in virtual meetings and collaborate with distributed teams.
