• Respond promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions while conducting interpretations in a professional and approachable manner.
• Engage in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Provide interpretation services through video and swiftly input data on a dedicated device, such as a laptop, desktop computer, mobile phone, or tablet, to fulfill the essential job functions.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions occur.
• Articulate clearly in both languages, utilizing appropriate pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Uphold a professional demeanor throughout all video and audio interpreting sessions at all times.
• Maintain composure during video and audio interpreting sessions, particularly if one of the primary speakers is upset or incoherent, especially in crisis situations such as 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during scheduled working hours.
• Adhere to client instructions, following protocol to meet client expectations with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), refraining from interacting with the LEP without the client’s consent.
• Comprehend the protocols and terminology across various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Proficiency in Nepali and English, with an understanding of the associated cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competency and evaluate regional and accent variations to effectively communicate with the LEP.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high degree of accuracy during interpretations.
• Capacity to maintain focus, remain detached from the conversation, and uphold neutrality and objectivity, especially in sensitive discussions such as end-of-life issues, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and topics related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Education or professional experience in language-related domains such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Must be adaptable to any technological advancements within LLS that enhance service delivery and fulfill client needs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages is highly preferred.
