This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee the recruitment process by collaborating with state leadership to evaluate employment needs, engaging in recruiting initiatives to identify and secure qualified candidates, and proactively cultivating talent pipelines using various online search tools.
• Manage the job posting process which includes aiding in interviews, extending offers, and conducting or obtaining background checks.
• Lead the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are properly integrated and entered into the HRIS system efficiently.
• Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, directing complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate personnel.
• Keep accurate and current human resource files, records, and documentation within the company HRIS system and perform regular audits.
• Support payroll functions by responding to employee inquiries, correcting processing errors, and auditing timesheets weekly.
• Assist with all administrative tasks of the HR team, including the planning and execution of special events such as open enrollment, organization-wide meetings, and employee recognition activities.
• Respond to inquiries in the HR shared inbox, including postal mail, important notices, and employment verification requests from State Agencies.
• Help troubleshoot any technical issues encountered in states related to recruitment, onboarding, or other HR processes.
• Act as the first point of contact for state staff regarding minor employee relations concerns.
• Collaborate across departments including organizing/field, data, finance, legal, and operations.
• Foster open communication, discussion, and feedback among all staff to promote an inclusive and supportive team culture.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field is *preferred*.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources recruiting and onboarding is required.
• Understanding of fundamental HR laws and policies, including Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, ACA, and Workers Compensation regulations.
• Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and entering data into HRIS systems.
• Proficiency in G-Suite applications, including Google Docs and Sheets.
• Ability to uphold strict levels of confidentiality, tact, discretion, and professionalism in both oral and written communication.
• Previous experience in payroll and benefits is preferred.
• Prior experience in a non-profit, social welfare, or issue advocacy organization is preferred.
• Experience with labor relations in a union setting is preferred.
