This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Reporting to the Chief States Officer of FCF, the Director oversees a team of nine (9), organized into three distinct teams that facilitate work in Iowa and nationally in states including Michigan, Indiana, Virginia, and North Dakota.

• The Director is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of all programs and is an active participant on the FCF Leadership Team to support activities across the organization.

• Additionally, the Director manages the daily operations of their division in accordance with policies established by FCF.

• Develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy; cultivate and maintain relationships with institutional funders; secure funding from state government and philanthropic sources; create funding proposals and evaluation reports; and oversee the management of the annual budget.

• Design, manage, and promote business and financial programs; assist Early Childhood Education (ECE) providers in enhancing their business skills and capacity; market, assess, and improve FCF programs and services; and deliver training, consultative, and technical assistance to strengthen ECE initiatives.

• Support, develop, and retain qualified and high-performing staff, consultants, and volunteers; ensure the efficient operation of the organization by selecting and nurturing effective personnel; and foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect with an emphasis on outstanding performance.

• Maintain strong and effective relationships with ECE business leaders and advocates at both the state and national levels; establish and nurture robust connections with private and public sector leaders, funding sources, industry leaders, and partner organizations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational development, planning, communication, finance, nonprofit administration, or public administration is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• A minimum of four (4) years of executive or advanced level supervisory experience in a nonprofit organization, with a preference for knowledge pertaining to early care and education issues.

• A proven track record of securing approximately $1 million annually through a diverse mix of philanthropy, government, corporate, and individual donors.

• Familiarity with the communities throughout Vermont, or the ability to quickly establish connections within those communities.

• Experience in program planning, development, facilitation, and evaluation.

• Demonstrated knowledge of community and economic development.

• Awareness of current service trends and emerging models in early care and education.

• Proven administrative capabilities in areas including financial management, budgeting, planning, and goal setting.

• Familiarity with FCF’s Theory of Change, or a positive attitude towards change and innovative business practices, including the capacity to implement continuous improvements.

• Willingness to learn and receptive to positive and constructive feedback.

• Experience in private sector engagement and partnerships is advantageous.

• A dynamic, enthusiastic individual with a proactive attitude.

• A validated history of monitoring, managing, and analyzing program data and outcomes.

• A systems thinker capable of maintaining a broad perspective while attending to intricate details.
