Motion Designer, Animator – Contract-to-Hire

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Create UI animations, develop our character universe, and animate it all with bold, innovative motion and artistic styles.

• Work in close collaboration with engineering, product, and design teams to produce animations that not only surprise and delight but also motivate our customers to achieve their goals and celebrate each of their victories along the way.

• Act quickly, experiment consistently, and stretch the limits of what a product experience can be, ensuring it remains deeply engaging and retains user interest.

• Enhance Rilla’s motion language across our website, marketing materials, and other significant brand moments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in motion design, interactive media, or game development — or a robust portfolio of personal projects that display a variety of styles and technical proficiency.

• Expertise in Rive, Lottie, and After Effects, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to learn new tools, along with hands-on experience in creating production-ready animations.

• Proficient in animating characters using AI-driven prompting and creative iteration, favoring video generation tools over traditional rigging, lighting, and shader processes.

• Experience collaborating with engineers on animation implementation, with a solid understanding of technical limitations and optimization.

• Familiarity with how motion, sound, and haptic feedback work in harmony to create unified user experiences.

• Well-versed in AI tools and eager to explore new software for crafting captivating animations.

• Capability to translate Rilla’s vibrant brand essence and artistic style into a cohesive motion design language.

• A grasp of game design principles and player experience, with a discerning eye for what makes interactions engaging, rewarding, and enjoyable through animations that captivate and delight.
