This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Conduct quality control evaluations of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with specific lender guidelines, focusing on both pre and post-closing audits and adherence to regulations.
• Reviews involve identifying potential fraud, misrepresentation, processing or underwriting deficiencies, compliance breaches, and relevant opportunities within the defined scope.
• Provide Quality Control feedback on loan file assessments completed by internal team members.
• Ensure the loan product aligns with program guidelines and borrower eligibility criteria.
• Examine employment documentation and recalculate income information.
• Review and re-evaluate asset and reserve documentation.
• Analyze credit reports and recalculate liabilities accordingly.
• Assess title commitments, hazard insurance, and flood insurance documentation.
• Scrutinize and evaluate borrowers' mortgage applications and associated documents.
• Analyze real estate purchase agreements, if applicable.
• Conduct Appraisal Reviews for completeness, safety concerns, and external obsolescence.
• Identify any red flags within a loan file and ensure appropriate measures are taken.
• Determine the correct designation for title, title services, and all other shop-able fees.
• Verify that fee payee names on the Final Settlement Statement match invoices or other documents in the file to confirm accuracy.
• Ensure Specific Closing Instructions are accurate regarding fees and amounts.
• Compare Specific Closing Instructions for loan terms, principal, interest, and escrow information.
• Review final closing documents to ensure compliance with applicable legal standards.
• Confirm adherence to state-specific Non-borrowing spouse signing requirements.
• For NORTC eligible loans, verify compliance with the Notice of Right to Cancel requirements as per RESPA.
• Ensure all documents and pre-funding conditions related to Title, Trusts, and POAs are fulfilled.
• Analyze individual loan files to determine compliance with applicable lender guidelines and loan approval criteria.
• Adhere to quality control policies and procedures to ensure alignment with defined scopes of work.
• Identify training opportunities related to quality reviews and collaborate with the Quality Manager to implement necessary sessions.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Underwriting/QC.
• At least two years of experience underwriting according to FNMA and/or FHLMC guidelines, as well as FHA and/or VA guidelines.
• Proven skills and experience in quality control support and practices within the mortgage loan sector (both origination and post-closing).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong time management skills, with a focus on maintaining quality.
• In-depth knowledge of transaction components that may indicate potential fraud or significant compliance violations.
• Familiarity with the policies, principles, and practices of mortgage loan processing, underwriting, and closing.
• Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of working in a team environment while also thinking independently and sharing insights.
• Ability to handle multiple analytical projects simultaneously and adapt to ongoing workflow changes.
• Proficient computer skills.
