This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Self-sourced Mortgage Loan Originator responsible for originating, reviewing, and evaluating mortgage loan applications while providing recommendations.
• Advise members on suitable financial planning strategies and practices.
• Contribute to the growth of credit union membership by self-sourcing mortgage applicants through collaboration with referral partners such as Realtors, Builders, and other trade organizations.
• Conduct interviews and process mortgage loan requests via appointments, web applications, phone, and walk-ins.
• Assess creditworthiness of applicants.
• Analyze supporting documentation, including pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns, and asset documents.
• Utilize credit reports and other supporting documentation to ensure the accuracy of applications.
• Review purchase agreements, warranty deeds, real estate contracts, and other property-related documents supplied by borrowers or real estate professionals.
• Accurately disclose loan applications in a timely manner while remaining compliant with all State and Federal Regulations.
• Provide well-documented reasoning for the approval or denial of loan applications in Loan notes and with supporting documentation.
• Deliver an exceptional member experience by actively listening to and assessing the needs of both members and non-members.
• Clarify the features and benefits of specific products and services.
• Propose targeted solutions that address the needs of members.
• Educate and guide members on financial planning, creditworthiness, underwriting guidelines, interest rates, and available products.
• Supply ample information to enable members to make informed decisions regarding products and rates.
• Aim to surpass the Credit Union’s service and sales goals through the cultivation and maintenance of member relationships.
• Cross-sell consumer and commercial products to members when suitable.
• Build external relationships with realtors and builders.
• Participate in mortgage seminars, Realtor on Duty events, CU Realty functions, and other requested gatherings.
• Follow up with attendees to foster additional relationships and secure loans.
• Meet or exceed annual department origination targets established by Management.
• Complete all necessary steps for annual registration and renewal with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
• Ensure that all personal data remains current with NMLS.
• Complete SAFE Act training as mandated by the Credit Union.
• Attend schools, seminars, and other training opportunities to further develop and enhance product knowledge.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
• A minimum of three years' experience in originating mortgage loans.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Comprehensive understanding of mortgage lending fundamentals and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of various mortgage products.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to convey lending-related topics clearly and concisely to others.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity and comfort with information technology, especially digital communication methods.
• Strong organizational capabilities in managing multiple initiatives.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Capability to meet and maintain requirements for the SAFE ACT.
• Current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) or the ability to become registered upon employment.
