This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop the software infrastructure for autonomy-driven foundational models, encompassing multimodal data pipelines as well as reproducible training and evaluation workflows.

• Design and refine LLM, VLM, and VLA architectures, which include model code paths, tokenization methods, inference runners, and output heads.

• Integrate and manage simulators for closed-loop evaluation processes.

• Create tools for metrics, visualization, and experiment management.

• Provide production-grade serving and inference tools for deterministic, low-latency operations on bench/mule setups and future vehicle deployments.

• Take ownership of systems from design through to implementation, testing, documentation, and iterative improvements.

• Enhance code quality, reliability, and observability.


⛳️ Requirements

• MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics, or a BS with at least 2 years of experience in building ML, data, or evaluation systems.

• Solid foundation in Python, including knowledge of data structures, testing, debugging, and modular design principles.

• Proven experience in delivering production-quality code/APIs and consistent automation.

• Familiarity with constructing data/ML pipelines and evaluation tools.

• Knowledge of integrating training and inference processes using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

• Experience in dataset packaging, sharding, manifest formats, and integrity verification for large multimodal datasets.

• Practical background in enhancing training/inference throughput and latency through techniques such as mixed precision, efficient batching, or model parallelism.

• Expertise in cloud storage, training workflows, containerization, CI/CD, and experiment observability.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills with research and engineering collaborators.

• A proactive attitude towards ownership and independence within a small, dynamic team.

• Previous experience with perception, detection, or multimodal models is a plus.
