Migration Architect, Modern Platforms Advisory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create a thorough cloud migration strategy tailored to both business and technical needs

• Evaluate the existing IT environment and determine the scope of the migration

• Select the suitable cloud model (public, private, hybrid, or multi-cloud) and service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Establish cost, security, and compliance criteria for cloud adoption

• Offer guidance on the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) framework

• Formulate detailed migration and/or transformation strategies

• Design cloud architectures that meet scalability, availability, and performance requirements

• Develop migration strategies, including rehosting (lift and shift), re-platforming, re-architecting, and modernizing legacy systems

• Identify dependencies and risks linked to cloud migration

• Ensure selection of appropriate cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security) for optimal performance

• Lead the migration efforts, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations

• Collaborate closely with DevOps, security, and networking teams to configure cloud environments

• Supervise data migration, application refactoring, and integration with cloud-native services

• Optimize workloads after migration for cost efficiency and effectiveness

• Implement security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring

• Possess familiarity with various security models and best practices (e.g., PCI, SOC2, NIST, HITRUST, FedRAMP, Gov Cloud, CJIS, ITAR, or others)

• Advise on maintaining compliance with industry standards (ISO, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)

• Develop governance policies for cloud resource utilization and cost management

• Establish monitoring and alerting systems for cloud infrastructure using tools like AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or GCP Operations Suite

• Diagnose issues and provide solutions to improve system reliability

• Collaborate with business leaders, developers, and IT teams to align cloud migration objectives

• Deliver training and guidance to teams on cloud technologies and best practices

• Report migration progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, including military experience

• Over 5 years of experience in the IT sector

• More than 3 years of experience in Cloud Migration

• Strong problem-solving capabilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• Relevant technology certifications are a plus

• Solid understanding of IaaS and PaaS cloud services

• Proficient in one of the cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with relevant certification(s)

• Knowledge of essential infrastructure components and their fundamental principles – compute, storage, networking

• Understanding of virtualization with experience in server or desktop virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V)

• Experience with cloud or on-premise migration tools and methodologies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and articulate complex infrastructure solutions

• Exceptional project management and client communication skills
