Mien Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage real-time telephone interpretation calls between Mien and English speakers.

• Provide precise meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.

• Interpret across various sectors including healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911 services.

• Communicate clearly in both languages, utilizing proper pronunciation and courteous expressions.

• Uphold a professional demeanor, demonstrating neutrality and objectivity during sessions.

• Maintain composure during challenging or emergency calls, including 911 situations.

• Ensure punctuality and availability during designated work hours.

• Adhere to client instructions and interpretation protocols.

• Employ suitable industry terminology and comprehend common procedures.

• Respond swiftly to interpreting assignments while providing friendly and professional service.

• Operate from a quiet and secure home office environment.

• Adjust to high call volumes, prolonged calls, and emotionally taxing sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in both Mien and English, along with an understanding of relevant cultural dynamics.

• Capability to deliver cultural competency and evaluate regional and accent variations.

• Strong listening, retention, and note-taking abilities.

• Capacity to remain neutral and objective when addressing sensitive topics.

• Educational background or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.

• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements.

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must possess work authorization that does not currently or in the future necessitate visa sponsorship.

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

• Ability to read and write in the requested languages is highly preferred.

• Dedicated personal device for business use.

• Desktop or laptop computer with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS, or an acceptable tablet/smartphone.

• High-speed internet connection with a minimum of 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, with a ping of no more than 300 ms and jitter not exceeding 30 ms.

• A quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions.

• Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse while remaining stationary in front of a computer.

• Competence in using company-provided software and systems.

• Adequate manual dexterity to type or write.

• Ability to lift items weighing up to 26 lbs.

• A post-offer pre-employment background check and/or drug screening may be a requirement based on location.
