This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting.
• Offer instruction, assistance, and guidance tailored to the individual needs outlined in students’ IEPs.
• Collaborate with parents and related service personnel regarding student therapies.
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation.
• Lead and facilitate collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP gatherings.
• Implement accommodations and modifications utilizing assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible texts.
• Adjust lessons and assessments in accordance with IEP specifications.
• Ensure students' inclusion and success within the general education setting.
• Gather data and samples of student work to track IEP progress.
• Record parent communications and student interventions.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity for students.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, notifying administrators of performance issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Foster positive relationships and maintain timely communication with families, students, and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and fundamental virtual classroom troubleshooting concerns.
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, or school-related obligations.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification is mandatory.
• Special Education endorsement is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Active state teaching license is necessary.
• Capability to pass the required background check.
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Capacity to maintain a distraction-free professional home office.
• Proficiency in interpreting and generating numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with the specified age group is preferred.
• Experience in supporting both adults and children with technology is desirable.
• Background in teaching online or in traditional classroom environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms is advantageous.
