This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• This role is associated with Missouri Connections Academy.
• From your home office in Missouri, certified Teachers will oversee instructional programs.
• Utilizing the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum resources, they will regularly consult with learning coaches and students to ensure each child successfully completes their instructional program.
• The Secondary Teacher will be accountable for the successful execution of the following tasks: Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences promptly; Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction; Review curriculum and create alternative methods for presenting lessons to enhance student comprehension (working directly with students and parents); Maintain regular communication with parents, students, and other teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, assess scores, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignment completion, and coach special projects; Collaborate with other teachers to ensure all students are progressing successfully through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are shared among teachers; Develop a broad understanding of the entire K-12 curriculum and an in-depth knowledge of the specific courses for which they are responsible; Assist students and parents with alternative strategies and provide additional help with daily assignments and projects; Regularly communicate with parents, students, and curriculum specialists via computer and telephone; Keep student records and data current, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance records, and logging all student and parent interactions; Work with fellow teachers and staff learning specialists to create alternative enrichment activities and modify student programs to enhance comprehension; Collaborate with other teachers to plan social activities and relevant field trips for students; Manage regional field trips and integrate these experiences into the curriculum; Develop and implement virtual methods to foster a “school community”; Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, including in-person proctoring of State Tests at various locations throughout Missouri; Engage in student recruitment sessions and other marketing initiatives that require teacher representation; Collaborate with Advisory Teachers and School Counselors to ensure families receive appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress, and established goals are being met; Attend and actively participate in in-person training sessions and team-building activities scheduled throughout the academic year, locations to be determined; Attend field trips and other community events organized for families; and perform other assigned duties.
• Highly qualified and certified to teach Secondary English/Language Arts in Missouri, appropriate to grade level and content area responsibilities.
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities.
• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft OS and MS Office applications.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
• Customer-focused attitude.
• High degree of adaptability.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with a solid track record.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events (may involve some overnight travel).
• Capability to work remotely, if required.
• Availability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support families.
