Middle DevOps Engineer – OpenShift, On-Prem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to collect requirements and devise solutions that adhere to engineering standards while fulfilling business needs.

• Design, implement, and oversee Red Hat OpenShift clusters in both on-premises physical and virtualized settings.

• Assume responsibility for systems engineering projects associated with OpenShift infrastructure.

• Work alongside development teams to containerize applications and enhance deployment and release processes.

• Construct and sustain CI/CD pipelines utilizing OpenShift and related DevOps tools.

• Automate operational and deployment activities through Ansible and other scripting tools.

• Carry out patching and upgrades of OpenShift clusters, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, and related components, ensuring compliance with change-management protocols.

• Design, implement, and manage backup, disaster recovery, and redundancy strategies.

• Participate in on-call/standby rotation to support critical platform and infrastructure services, ensuring service continuity.

• Assist in daily operations, including trend analysis, root cause analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving platform issues to guarantee high availability and reliability.

• Apply and advocate for security best practices, including RBAC, vulnerability management, and compliance measures.

• Enhance alerting, monitoring, and observability capabilities across OpenShift and associated systems.

• When OpenShift-related workloads are light, engage in general system administration tasks, including Linux server administration.

• Create and maintain current documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and runbooks.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer, mentoring, and training for colleagues on OpenShift, GitLab, and associated infrastructure technologies.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent certifications (including Red Hat OpenShift).

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in deploying, operating, and maintaining OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms in enterprise or on-premise environments.

• Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitLab CI and/or Jenkins.

• Strong foundation in Linux system administration, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

• Practical experience in infrastructure automation using Ansible or similar tools.

• Proficient scripting skills utilizing Bash and/or Python for automation and operational tasks.

• Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.

• Upper-intermediate level of English proficiency (both spoken and written).

• A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.
