Mid Video Engineer, Node.js

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Utilize Node.js to handle and manage data streams within a microservices architecture

• Develop and maintain workflows for acquiring, processing, and analyzing video segments

• Implement and resolve issues related to video workflows, including HLS, adaptive streaming, FFmpeg, and codecs

• Create and support APIs for video distribution, metadata management, and backend integrations

• Engage with event-driven architectures for real-time or near-real-time video processing

• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and operations teams to enhance:

• Streaming quality

• Performance

• Reliability

• Identify technical challenges, suggest improvements, and assist in developing scalable backend solutions

• Contribute to the optimization of systems across network, storage, and processing layers

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Node.js in backend, microservices, or data-streaming contexts

• Proven experience in building and maintaining APIs and backend services

• Familiarity with microservices architectures

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities

• Working knowledge of HLS and adaptive streaming techniques

• Understanding of video formats, segmented video, and media delivery workflows

• Practical experience with FFmpeg, media codecs, and video processing principles

• Experience working with data streams and event-driven systems

• Capability to operate within distributed systems and scalable environments

• Experience with TypeScript, Python, or other backend programming languages

• Familiarity with video tools such as GStreamer, OpenCV, or VLC

• Knowledge of streaming protocols like RTMP or WebRTC

• Experience with:

• Cloud storage solutions (e.g., Amazon S3)

• Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)

• Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ

• Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)

• Experience optimizing:

• Network performance

• Disk I/O

• Processing performance for large media files
