
Mid-Level Information System Security Officer – System Owner Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Act as a reliable security consultant for system owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Navigate systems through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and assist in achieving their Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Create and sustain authorization documentation, continuous monitoring strategies, contingency planning, and security recommendations.
• Ensure client systems comply with federal cybersecurity standards.
• Aid in the development of authorization packages while maintaining necessary independence from formal Security Control Assessment (SCA) and Final Assessment Report (SAR) validation processes.
• Generate essential system documentation, such as Boundary Scope Memorandums (BSM), System Architecture diagrams, and Authorization Boundary and Network Diagrams (ABND).
• Assess technical evidence, including configuration artifacts, scan reports, and system documentation, to confirm compliance.
• Develop and maintain system-level Contingency Plans (CP), Incident Response Plans (IRP), and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) Plans.
• Conduct RMF training sessions, office hours, and provide user support.
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience as permitted by company and contract policy.
• A minimum of four years of experience as an ISSO or in supporting RMF authorization package development within a federal setting.
• Practical experience in creating System Security Plans (SSPs), Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), FIPS 199 categorizations, Privacy Threshold and Privacy Impact Assessments (PTA/PIA), and Configuration Management Plans.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37 (RMF), NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, NIST SP 800-18, and FISMA.
• Experience in developing, maintaining, and testing system-level Contingency Plans and Incident Response Plans.
• Excellent written communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical documentation abilities.
