
Mid-Level Attorney, National Coordinating Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a vital member of the National Coordinating Counsel for mass tort and products liability litigation, including asbestos cases, managing strategy and execution across various jurisdictions.
• Create, implement, and uphold consistent national defense strategies, trial themes, discovery methodologies, and motion practices across coordinated cases.
• Draft and assess complex motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda in state and federal courts across the nation.
• Lead and orchestrate written discovery strategies, which involve drafting master discovery documents, reviewing jurisdiction-specific responses, and managing discovery shared with multiple parties.
• Examine and apply state and federal case law, statutes, and regulatory authority to formulate effective pre-trial and trial strategies in coordinated litigation.
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives; oversee deposition strategies and preparations across jurisdictions.
• Prepare, evaluate, and manage expert witnesses, including the coordination of expert retention, disclosures, and testimony strategies.
• Argue motions and engage in hearings and court appearances as required based on experience and jurisdictional necessities.
• Generate national case evaluations, exposure assessments, and risk analyses for extensive litigation portfolios.
• Engage in mediations, settlement conferences, and court-mandated proceedings, including negotiating individual and portfolio-level resolutions.
• Supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of local counsel, junior attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support staff to ensure uniform quality and strategy.
• Serve as the primary contact for clients, offering regular updates, strategic guidance, and clear communication regarding the status and risks of nationwide litigation.
• Provide substantial support and strategic collaboration with Shareholders, Partners, and Senior Counsel on complex, high-exposure cases.
• Mentor and develop junior attorneys within the practice group and contribute to internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Participate in business development, client presentations, and industry networking to promote firm growth and national client relationships.
• Fulfill annual billable hour requirements and adhere to the firm's timekeeping, ethical, and professional responsibility policies.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to practice law in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; multiple state bar admissions are highly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 to 7 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting, with progressively increasing responsibility for complex cases.
• Proven experience in managing billable work and meeting billable hour expectations.
• Significant experience in mass tort and products liability litigation, including asbestos cases.
• Established ability to manage multi-jurisdictional litigation and coordinate strategies among internal teams and external counsel.
• Strong client service orientation, with experience advising clients on nationwide litigation strategies, exposure, and risk.
• Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume litigation environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, local counsel, and support staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Filevine or other document management systems is preferred.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and strategic clarity.
