This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop and/or modify Single Line Diagrams (SLD) & Three Line Diagrams (3LD), schematics, and wiring diagrams related to metering systems.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, and certify revenue and check meters, as well as various electronic data recording devices.
• Program revenue and check meters to address complex system losses while reading revenue and real-time data with assistance.
• Verify the wiring and accuracy of commercial and utility-scale revenue metering installations with minimal guidance.
• Investigate the sources of issues in commercial and utility-scale metering, perform repairs, and advise customers on potential solutions with limited support.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing to assess communication parameters and revenue data output from meters.
• Train and mentor engineers or technicians on all aspects of installation and maintenance of various meter applications in the field utilizing a portable test kit.
• Assemble metering panels.
• Utilize standard discipline-specific software and provide training to other technicians.
• Inspect new and existing meter panels to ensure compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Establish and maintain schedules while providing timely progress updates.
• Work independently in the field while coordinating with clients.
• Operate safely and professionally while ensuring compliance with safety standards for field equipment.
• Two-year technical degree with an engineering background or a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in revenue metering.
• Preferred possession of a Metering Inspector certification/badge, such as ERCOT EPS Meter Inspector certification or CAISO Authorized Inspector.
• Advanced understanding of metering design principles.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines by prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Exhibits excellent communication, time management, attention to detail, interpersonal, and organizational skills within a team, whether in the office, meter shop, or in the field.
• Takes responsibility for the quality of work produced.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor an individual.
• Acts with integrity and strives for excellence in all work endeavors.
• Capable of reading and tracing engineering design drawings, including SLD, 3LD, logic diagrams, and DC schematics related to metering.
• Proficient in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other specialized software as necessary.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with company driving standards.
• Willingness to travel nationwide to project sites, particularly in Texas and/or California, with a minimum travel requirement of 50%.
