MEP Project Manager – Commercial & Institutional Construction, Retrofit

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Supervise and direct the construction of one large-scale or several smaller mechanical or multidisciplinary projects.

• Ensure projects are managed within designated construction budgets to meet customer satisfaction and uphold installation quality.

• Oversee material and labor management to guarantee projects run smoothly and are completed on time.

• Support the training of Project Supervisors, Project Foremen, and Technicians.

• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress updates, and cost-tracking documentation.

• Develop, maintain, and adhere to construction schedules, assigning staff to ensure projects meet deadlines and budget constraints.

• Provide guidance on local regulations regarding landfills, carting services, mechanical codes, and permits.

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, promoting a safe and productive work environment.

• Effectively manage multiple energy-efficiency projects simultaneously.

• Conduct performance evaluations; administer discipline, training, and counseling to assigned staff as necessary.

• Maintain clear communication with clients, executives, subcontractors, code enforcement/permitting agents, engineers, architects, and tradespeople.

• Oversee subcontractor management in accordance with contractual obligations, both internally and on-site.

• Ensure worksites are clean and safe, including compliance with local recycling and waste disposal regulations.

• Inspect project sites prior to installation to identify specialized equipment and assess scheduled tasks.

• Verify the accuracy and quality of work to meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Monitor, document, and track the usage and availability of materials.

• Maintain precise records and deliverables within specified timelines.

• Arrange for storage facilities for project materials and equipment as needed.

• Develop and maintain project risk management plans.

• Oversee adherence to project quality assurance standards.

• Manage projects typically ranging in value from $100K to $5M.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required.

• At least 7 years of experience managing government contracts.

• A minimum of 6 years of project management experience in commercial or industrial construction.

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, etc.).

• OSHA 30 certification; if currently not certified, required training will be provided.

• PMP certification is preferred.

• Capability to climb ladders, kneel, stretch, maintain balance, lift up to 40 pounds regularly, work overhead, stand for long periods, and traverse uneven terrain.

• Ability to work in various environments, both indoors and outdoors, across different weather conditions, including both conditioned and unconditioned spaces.
