
Medical Writing Fellow – Value-Based Care

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and uphold MEAT-structured documentation templates for key chronic conditions relevant to HCC (such as T2DM, CKD, CHF, MDD, SUD, and others within the top 100 by RAF impact)
• Develop coding guides, quick-reference guides (QRGs), and clinical toolkits that are aligned with ICD-10-CM, CMS-HCC V28/V29, CPT, HEDIS, and CMS Star Ratings
• Formulate SOAP note templates and treatment plan content that incorporates documentation best practices suitable for VBC settings and audit preparedness
• Script, produce, and edit podcast episodes that address VBC policy updates, coding modifications, and topics related to clinical excellence
• Manage the entire process: research → scripting → collaboration with clinical SMEs → editing → publishing
• Keep track of updates from CMS, NCQA, and payer guidelines and convert them into actionable writing deliverables
• Create briefs and summaries that assist providers and their teams in adapting to regulatory changes without requiring legal expertise
• Conduct interviews with clinicians and coding auditors to ensure the accuracy of content
• Edit submissions from SMEs to uphold quality, consistency, and clinical credibility across all AAVBC outputs
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from medical school, PA, NP, or a related clinical program — OR — possess 1+ years of writing experience for clinical or health policy audiences
• Capability to read and interpret clinical guidelines (memorization is not necessary; knowing how to utilize them is essential)
• Strong writing skills: clear, concise, and structured — able to present complex topics in a scannable format without oversimplifying
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding clinical terminology, coding specifics, and regulatory language
• Comfortable managing deadlines and projects independently with minimal oversight
• Familiarity with HCC models, MEAT documentation, HEDIS measures, or Medicare Advantage
• Experience in clinical coding (CPC, CCS, CRC) or a desire to acquire such skills
• Experience in podcast or audio production
• Proficient in Google Workspace, Notion, or similar tools
• Practical exposure to the medical business aspects — including HCC risk adjustment, quality measurement, and VBC contracting — topics often not covered in medical school
• Byline-worthy work that contributes to a professional portfolio
