Medical Support Assistant – Medical Receptionist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee the scheduling of appointments for clinics/units and manage calendars effectively.

• Handle consult intake processes, coordinate appointment scheduling, and oversee electronic waitlists.

• Ensure the accuracy of daily consults, recall lists, and communications.

• Modify appointments, locations, and providers to ensure clinic accessibility and coverage.

• Act as the primary contact for patients, families, and staff members.

• Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and resolve any concerns promptly.

• Deliver courteous, professional, and timely service to all stakeholders.

• Manage complaints and initiate resolutions within the required timeframes (24–72 hours).

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including both VA and community providers.

• Facilitate community care scheduling workflows and escalation protocols.

• Assist patients in navigating their care and making informed decisions.

• Enter and maintain patient data within CPRS/EHR systems.

• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance details.

• Perform receptionist and clerical tasks, including handling messages, records, and materials.

• Support revenue processes by identifying appropriate insurance coverage.

• Ensure patient safety by confirming identities using established protocols.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.

• Proficient in both written and spoken English.

• Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute is necessary.

• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

• Basic understanding of medical terminology is essential.

• At least 6 months of customer service experience in a medical or healthcare environment.

• Capability to work remotely and independently in a professional context.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable VA background investigation (NACI) and PIV credential.

• No physical or health limitations that would hinder job performance.

• U.S. citizenship is required.
