Medical Stop Loss Underwriting Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Accountable for underwriting new and renewal business within a designated portfolio.

• Leverage rating manuals, experience modules, and clinical knowledge to establish pricing that drives profit/loss, renewal metrics, and new business sales for the assigned portfolio.

• Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting, and Clinical teams to devise and execute pricing strategies that assist HMIG in achieving financial objectives.

• Mentor, coach, and provide experiences to junior staff to promote the adoption of consultative best practices throughout the department.

• Apply client and market insights to refine and enhance Underwriting Guidelines, processes, and tools by integrating best practices.

• Oversee overall block performance and provide reports on emerging financial trends.

• Formulate strategies and tactics to enhance case-level and block outcomes to achieve targets.

• Serve as a subject matter expert to aid Sales in negotiations for renewing existing clients and acquiring new business.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration/Management, or Computer and Information Science is required.

• 10 - 15 years of experience in Underwriting.

• 10 - 15 years of experience in the Insurance Industry.

• Certification as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is preferred.

• Certification as a Health Insurance Associate (HIA) is preferred.

• Certification as a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) is preferred.

• Membership in the Society of Actuaries is preferred.
