This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.
β’ Accountable for underwriting new and renewal business within a designated portfolio.
β’ Leverage rating manuals, experience modules, and clinical knowledge to establish pricing that drives profit/loss, renewal metrics, and new business sales for the assigned portfolio.
β’ Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting, and Clinical teams to devise and execute pricing strategies that assist HMIG in achieving financial objectives.
β’ Mentor, coach, and provide experiences to junior staff to promote the adoption of consultative best practices throughout the department.
β’ Apply client and market insights to refine and enhance Underwriting Guidelines, processes, and tools by integrating best practices.
β’ Oversee overall block performance and provide reports on emerging financial trends.
β’ Formulate strategies and tactics to enhance case-level and block outcomes to achieve targets.
β’ Serve as a subject matter expert to aid Sales in negotiations for renewing existing clients and acquiring new business.
β’ Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration/Management, or Computer and Information Science is required.
β’ 10 - 15 years of experience in Underwriting.
β’ 10 - 15 years of experience in the Insurance Industry.
β’ Certification as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is preferred.
β’ Certification as a Health Insurance Associate (HIA) is preferred.
β’ Certification as a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) is preferred.
β’ Membership in the Society of Actuaries is preferred.
