Medical Science Liaison, Senior Medical Science Liaison

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Identify, cultivate, and sustain collaborative relationships with existing and prospective Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare stakeholders concerning disease states that are strategically significant to Phathom.

• Deliver clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited inquiries (as appropriate) in academic, community, and healthcare provider environments, both in group and individual formats.

• Work in conjunction with the Clinical organization to boost patient enrollment in Phathom-sponsored clinical trials by pinpointing suitable trial sites and engaging with investigators involved in ongoing studies.

• Serve as the primary contact for investigators interested in initiating and conducting investigator-initiated research.

• Design and implement territory plans that align with the strategic regional and national action plans.

• Assist in the assessment of market landscape and competitive intelligence, including therapeutic trends and unmet needs within relevant disease states and the marketplace. Provide timely updates and insights on emerging clinical/scientific information and opportunities to internal stakeholders.

• Regularly collect insights from KOLs, healthcare providers (HCPs), and clinical trial investigators and relay the feedback to cross-functional stakeholders.

• Offer scientific support at medical congresses.

• Ability to travel extensively across a broad geography may be necessary.

• This position necessitates the capability to drive within an assigned territory by automobile (and in some areas, to travel by airplane).


⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in life sciences (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, PA-C, MSN) is required.

• Previous or current involvement in a Medical Affairs Fellowship or Internship is preferred. Experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is favored.

• Prior work experience in pharmaceutical medical affairs or as a healthcare provider is strongly preferred.

• Experience with product launches is preferred.

• Therapeutic area experience in gastrointestinal (GI) diseases is preferred.

• Familiarity with PhRMA, AGA, and other relevant guidelines is essential.

• A solid understanding of the clinical development process and ICH-GCP guidelines is required.

• Proven ability to maintain scientific credibility while being commercially supportive.

• A customer-centric, 'can-do' attitude with a focus on goals. Must be ambitious, independent, analytical, collaborative, loyal, flexible, and capable of effectively partnering across geographic areas and cross-functional teams.

• Must excel in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining collaborative, flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.

• Excellent communication skills; able to persuasively convey ideas and data verbally, in writing, and during presentations.

• Demonstrated skills as an effective team player who can establish credibility and confidence both internally and externally—in corporate settings as well as academic environments.
