This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Provide a clinical and scientific viewpoint to the local execution strategy that addresses customer challenges, issues, and opportunities.
• Oversee the implementation of field activities as part of the ecosystem team.
• Develop, nurture, and utilize relationships with key scientific and medical clients and organizations within the region.
• Engage with Key Influencers, Local Practice Leaders, Key Decision Makers, healthcare providers, and patient advocacy stakeholders.
• Contribute to the strategic business plans for the ecosystem and customize regional business strategies.
• Share clinical, scientific, and health economic insights related to nephrology and immunology disease states and approved Otsuka products.
• Achieve business objectives that extend beyond the territory and influence Medical Affairs.
• Provide evidence-based insights on the clinical, economic, and humanistic value of Otsuka and its offerings.
• Foster internal working relationships across the matrix team.
• Develop and implement local medical strategies under the guidance of regional Field Medical Affairs leadership.
• Lead special projects and additional roles within Field Medical Affairs.
• Share disease-state and healthcare landscape information with customers.
• Conduct clinical and data-focused training for promotional and disease-state speakers.
• Assist Otsuka's speaker bureau and address product educational requirements.
• Gather and submit medical insights to inform decision-making and prioritize evidence generation.
• Aid in clinical trials, health economic outcomes research, and medical collaborations.
• Offer clinical expertise and feedback on clinical trial operations, site selection, and performance.
• Mentor colleagues and support therapeutic development as well as the development of new hires.
• Assist Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training medical education, and the Field Medical Center of Excellence.
• MD/DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences, or a Master's degree with equivalent clinical experience.
• Profound understanding of the interconnectivity of health systems and the overall patient care delivery.
• Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals and other decision-makers.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in Medical Affairs.
• Previous training or experience in immune-mediated kidney disease is preferred.
• Exceptional business acumen with a thorough knowledge of the industry, Otsuka's business model and value proposition, key competitors, and market dynamics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Strong conflict resolution skills along with the capacity to work across functions.
• Capability to lead others and project teams strategically.
• Proficiency in summarizing and effectively communicating complex information and business objectives.
• Solid understanding of the industry’s legal, regulatory, and compliance environment.
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformation.
• Willingness to travel for business by air or car, up to 70% of the time depending on territory size.
• Preferred residence in a major city within the territory.
