This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Establish and nurture professional, trust-based relationships with external experts in therapeutic areas of interest within the designated geographic region.
• Engage in balanced, peer-to-peer scientific discussions with external experts to provide insights on AbbVie products throughout their lifecycle within the specified therapeutic area.
• Participate in in-depth scientific exchanges on pertinent disease state topics.
• Deliver credible scientific presentations to external experts and healthcare professionals as needed to address gaps in medical or scientific knowledge.
• Facilitate the collection of medical and scientific field intelligence, such as competitor information, new developments, and educational activities, and report findings through the appropriate channels.
• Collaborate with investigators involved in AbbVie clinical studies.
• Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, identifying investigators, training for study initiation (covering compound and data, study background), and providing scientific information support.
• MSLs will also engage with healthcare professionals regarding unsolicited requests for investigator-initiated studies (IIS) and facilitate communications related to IIS.
• Act as a point of contact for external experts within the assigned geographic area to meet their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, relevant AbbVie medicines, supporting their safe, effective, and appropriate use, including responding to unsolicited requests for off-label information from healthcare professionals.
• Upon request, assist external experts with inquiries for access to AbbVie medicines on a named patient or compassionate use basis, adhering to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives while addressing requests for medical and scientific information on products or areas of therapeutic interest to AbbVie.
• Ensure that all activities and interactions comply with applicable local laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, AbbVie policies/procedures, and accepted standards of best practice.
• Maintain a high level of current scientific expertise in relevant AbbVie products, overall therapeutic area, relevant disease states, and the competitive landscape.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues to develop and implement a territory external expert engagement plan aimed at supporting and fulfilling defined medical objectives and the needs of healthcare professionals.
• Work collaboratively, as appropriate, with other in-field teams to address the scientific and medical needs of a geographical area/account.
• Serve as a scientific resource for internal AbbVie functions, including commercial partners, in alignment with internal compliance policies, to support various activities.
• Conduct scientific training sessions for internal teams, such as sales, marketing, and brand team members, to enhance their scientific and technical expertise.
• Attend relevant scientific meetings and congresses, and work with internal colleagues to create summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform AbbVie’s strategic priorities and initiatives.
• Advanced degree in health sciences or a clinical discipline is required.
• Doctorate-level degree (e.g., Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD).
• Candidates with an undergraduate degree and significant relevant experience may be considered.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry-related experience or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs in advancing the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company is preferred.
• Experience in a Medical Science Liaison (or similar) position with proven success is preferred.
• Capability to interpret clinical data and effectively communicate key aspects of the data and its implications for practice/patients.
• Ability to rapidly learn about new subject areas and environments.
• Experience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area and in medical research more broadly.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred).
• Proven ability to cultivate and sustain strong collaborative relationships.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team within a matrix environment.
• Strong understanding of the local healthcare landscape.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the designated geographic area, and occasionally on a national or international basis.
