Medical Records Abstractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct timely and effective abstraction of medical record charts.

• Validate data to ensure the precision and completeness of recorded information.

• Cross-check patient demographics to guarantee accurate patient identification.

• Search computerized medical records for relevant patient histories and associated documentation.

• Ensure correct data entry of patient information.

• Maintain accurate tracking of chart completion and time management.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in clinical data abstraction and coding, or at least 3 years of experience in a healthcare role.

• Understanding of medical terminology.

• Previous experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred (such as Epic, Athena, eCW, GE Centricity, Cerner).

• Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced clinical degree and experience in a clinical environment.

• Detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.

• Must uphold the confidentiality of clinical data accessed as part of employment with GuideIT and complete mandatory HIPAA compliance training.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a home office setting.

• Must possess proactive and effective communication skills with team members and leadership.

• Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer skills and applications, with the ability to learn new software (such as Electronic Capture Tools, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel).
