This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +20 more states.
• Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to commercial payers.
• Ensure the precision of claims, including coding, modifiers, eligibility, EAP authorizations, and provider information.
• Track claim rejections and implement timely corrective measures.
• Handle denial resolution by researching root causes, making corrections and resubmitting, or preparing appeals.
• Conduct proactive follow-ups on outstanding accounts receivable and aging claims.
• Provide support for patient billing activities and respond to inquiries as necessary.
• Accurately document all billing activities in internal systems.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer regulations, and state/federal billing guidelines.
• Collaborate with credentialing, eligibility/benefits, clinical operations, and internal revenue cycle management teammates.
• Identify trends and suggest process enhancements to minimize denials and rework.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical billing.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and payer billing standards.
• Familiarity with EAP (Employee Assistance Program) claims and related workflows.
• Experience in submitting claims through clearinghouses and practice management systems.
• Proven track record in accounts receivable follow-up and denial management.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to a mission-driven organization.
• Experience in behavioral health billing is preferred.
• Knowledge of telehealth and/or multi-state payer experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Candid Health is considered a strong advantage.
• Experience in a startup or rapidly growing healthcare organization is preferred.
