This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
β’ Assess patient information and identify insurance authorization requirements.
β’ Submit authorization requests to insurance companies and relevant payers.
β’ Follow up with insurance providers on pending authorization requests.
β’ Monitor the status of authorizations and ensure requests are processed within the necessary timelines.
β’ Track authorizations that are approved, pending, denied, and expired.
β’ Acquire authorization numbers and accurately document authorization details.
β’ Identify any missing or incorrect information that could postpone authorization.
β’ Communicate with insurance providers to address authorization-related inquiries.
β’ Escalate denied or complicated authorization issues as needed.
β’ Ensure that authorizations are secured prior to the provision of services, when applicable.
β’ Maintain precise and current authorization records.
β’ Update internal systems and spreadsheets with pertinent authorization information.
β’ Ensure that supporting documentation is submitted accurately.
β’ Monitor expiration dates of authorizations and initiate renewals as necessary.
β’ Keep organized records of submissions, approvals, denials, and follow-ups.
β’ Communicate authorization information and updates to relevant internal teams.
β’ Collaborate with internal clinical, administrative, and billing teams.
β’ Proactively identify outstanding items and ensure their resolution.
β’ Prior hands-on experience with insurance authorizations is essential.
β’ Background in a healthcare, medical, or insurance setting.
β’ Strong comprehension of the insurance authorization process.
β’ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
β’ High attention to detail and precision.
β’ Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
β’ Capability to handle multiple authorization requests and deadlines concurrently.
β’ Strong follow-through and proactive pursuit of outstanding requests.
β’ Proficient in working with spreadsheets, online systems, and healthcare software.
β’ Strong computer skills and quick adaptability to new systems.
