This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee and evaluate the work of team members
• Engage in employee onboarding and training sessions
• Manage workflow among staff within the designated work area
• Offer technical and functional assistance to team members
• Update management on operational needs within the department
• Assist in providing patient care and support healthcare providers as needed
• Report urgent issues and any changes in patient conditions
• Guide patients on preparation for tests/procedures, over-the-counter medication usage, and treatments
• Deliver preventative and general health information as directed by providers or RNs
• Coordinate the results of tests and procedures with healthcare providers
• Aid in scheduling patient appointments
• Prepare refill documentation for provider approval
• Obtain lab and imaging results and inform providers of any abnormalities
• Respond to messages and results in the electronic medical records inbox from providers
• Administer injections properly when necessary
• Support front desk operations and assist with patient registration
• Help with patient transportation as needed
• Prepare patients for consultations, manage patient flow, and gather medical information
• Conduct rooming and vital signs as per established standards
• Collect, label, and process specimens
• Verify patient information and document as required by practice guidelines
• Keep patients updated on provider schedules and alert providers when patients are ready
• Clean, restock, and maintain inventories for exam and supply rooms
• Order medical and nutritional supplies as necessary
• Sterilize and service exam room equipment
• Ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Report any environmental hazards or equipment failures to the Supervisor
• Utilize equipment according to established policies, procedures, and manufacturer instructions
• Adhere to policies and procedures when administering medications
• Perform additional duties as assigned
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Education and/or experience must meet required functional competencies
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or a similar healthcare education program with equivalent clinical training
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must fulfill at least one BLS certification requirement: current BLS certification from the American Heart Association; current BLS certification from the American Red Cross; or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
• Non-certified candidates with less than six months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited institution with a clinical externship
• Candidates may be either a Medical Assistant or an LPN
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED
• Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 32 lbs. and frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
• Must reside within one hour of Apple Valley, Minnesota
• Must have legal eligibility to work in the United States; Allina Health utilizes E-Verify
