This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Assist in the design and integration of high-temperature piping systems for custom process equipment, molten salt systems, furnace systems, and other related industrial apparatus.
• Create safe, dependable, and maintainable piping solutions while collaborating closely with mechanical equipment, process, electrical, controls, fabrication, and operations teams.
• Design and provide support for high-temperature piping systems, including piping layouts, pipe supports, expansion features, connections, and equipment interfaces.
• Generate piping specifications, design criteria, calculations, material selections, drawings, isometrics, and technical documentation for custom process systems.
• Assess thermal expansion, material compatibility, insulation, routing, support loads, maintainability, safety, and fabrication limitations.
• Align piping design requirements with high-temperature vessels, furnaces, electrochemical systems, instrumentation, controls, electrical power, and facility interfaces.
• Aid in design reviews, procurement, vendor coordination, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and configuration control activities.
• Recognize piping design risks, interface conflicts, constructability challenges, and technical constraints that may impact safety, reliability, cost, or schedule.
• Proven experience in mechanical piping design for high-temperature process systems, industrial equipment, chemical processing, molten salt systems, or analogous applications.
• Solid understanding of piping design principles, pipe routing, supports, thermal expansion, materials, insulation, design documentation, and equipment interfaces.
• Capacity to support multidisciplinary engineering packages and coordinate technical specifications with design, fabrication, installation, and operations teams.
• Experience in applying relevant piping codes, standards, quality requirements, safety expectations, and documentation controls.
• Ability to operate in a complex technical environment that necessitates careful coordination, practical solutions, and a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with molten salt piping, high-temperature metallic or specialty materials, furnace interfaces, or advanced energy process systems.
• Familiarity with pipe stress considerations, thermal growth management, specialty valves, heat tracing, insulation, or custom fabricated piping assemblies.
• Background in supporting DOE, NNSA, nuclear, laboratory, chemical process, or highly regulated industrial facility projects.
