This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Oversees the design and development of mechanical systems for small modular reactor and nuclear fuel cycle facility initiatives.
• Directs and manages a team of mechanical engineers responsible for designing systems, structures, and components for major small modular reactor, fuel fabrication, and fuel recycling facilities.
• Evaluates staff performance.
• Operates under general administrative guidance.
• Makes independent decisions and addresses significant issues regarding the design and development of the small modular reactor.
• Collaborates with senior technical managers, program managers, and all management levels within the organization.
• Assesses staffing requirements, identifies gaps, and seeks opportunities for recruiting necessary personnel.
• Identifies, evaluates, recruits, and trains qualified candidates to fill essential positions.
• Articulates complex concepts, anticipates possible objections, and influences others, often at senior levels, to consider alternative perspectives.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
• At least fifteen years of experience post-baccalaureate.
• A minimum of five years of experience in managing individuals or teams.
• Excellent communication skills in a complex, multi-tiered environment.
• Strong organizational capabilities.
• Ability to facilitate and achieve alignment of goals among participants with varying interests.
• Required knowledge of key design standards and licensing requirements for commercial nuclear facilities.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred, with the capability to obtain licensure in multiple jurisdictions.
• Senior design professional experience on Commercial nuclear reactor projects.
• Experience with Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
• Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.
