This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct consulting-level activities for power uprates within the nuclear sector.
• Collaborate with clients and project teams to deliver technical discussions and updates on project status.
• Create engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Oversee resource management and loading, as well as develop estimates for task completion and budgets.
• Assess calculations pertaining to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condensers/heat sinks, and plant hazards.
• Evaluate task reports and equipment assessments to ensure they contain clear and concise technical information that meets client specifications.
• Analyze equipment sizing, optimization assessments, and selections for proposed power uprates.
• Review vendor bids from a technical standpoint.
• Engage with vendors, examine documents, and confirm equipment compliance with plant specifications and requirements.
• Guide and mentor junior engineering personnel on tasks related to power plant engineering.
• Conduct independent reviews of calculations and the preparation of drawings.
• Participate in client meetings and site walkdowns to confirm the scope and guarantee client satisfaction.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from a program accredited by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission is required.
• Strong academic foundation and a keen interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the nuclear power sector.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Practical experience and knowledge in one or more areas such as: Power Uprates (EPU/SPU/MUR); power uprate pinch point assessments and/or task reports; turbine/generator/AVR/exciter refurbishments; heat exchanger replacements (FWH/MSR/TFP); isophase bus duct; transformer/switchyard; NSSS systems; licensing applications.
• Outstanding technical report writing abilities.
• Familiarity with practical mechanical engineering and technology utilized in project design.
• Strong enthusiasm for numerical computations and problem-solving.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available.
• A Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) from an ABET-accredited program and a Professional Engineer (PE) License are desirable but not mandatory.
