Mechanical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for hypersonic weapon systems throughout the entire sustainment lifecycle.

• Review, create, and maintain technical manuals.

• Develop and process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).

• Execute configuration management tasks and monitor engineering baselines and delivered configurations.

• Create and revise redline drawings.

• Develop and assess Independent Logistics Assessment (ILA) documents.

• Compose technical risk statements and propose mitigation strategies.

• Engage in and support Change Control Boards (CCBs).

• Collaborate with Fleet Support Representatives to resolve fleet challenges and engineering discrepancies.

• Ensure that delivered systems conform to system and subsystem specifications.

• Support technical reviews, audits, and program milestones.

• Coordinate with engineering teams, logistics staff, and government stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

• Over 7 years of pertinent mechanical engineering or engineering-related experience.

• Experience in developing and reviewing technical manuals within a DoD or naval context.

• Proficiency in developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and facilitating configuration management processes.

• Knowledge of naval weapon systems, shipboard mechanical systems, or similar defense platforms.

• Experience in participating in or supporting Change Control Boards (CCBs).

• Skilled in redline drawing development and the interpretation of engineering drawings.

• Excellent technical writing abilities, including the creation of risk statements, engineering assessments, and logistics documents.

• Capacity to work collaboratively with Fleet Support Representatives and government clients.

• Interim secret clearance needed for initial employment, with the ability to obtain a secret clearance; SAIC will support the clearance process.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Preferred: experience in supporting NSWC Crane or other Navy offices.

• Preferred: experience in an ISEA, sustainment, or lifecycle engineering role.

• Preferred: familiarity with hypersonic, strike, or advanced naval weapons programs.

• Preferred: experience with DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class or Virginia-class submarine platforms.

• Preferred: understanding of MIL-SPEC standards, NAVSEA technical documentation requirements, and DoD configuration management policies.

• Preferred: experience in developing or reviewing ILA documents.

• Preferred: experience with Navy IETM development.

• Preferred: familiarity with NAVAIR/NAVSEA acquisition and sustainment processes.

• Preferred: experience with PTC Windchill, Navy MBPS, or other PLM/configuration management tools.
