This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Design and develop extensive mechanical systems for water infrastructure initiatives.
• Generate 3D models utilizing Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, or other mechanical design software for inclusion in design documentation.
• Determine the sizing and selection of hoists, actuators, and related mechanical systems in waterworks.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to guarantee structural integrity and mechanical functionality in accordance with industry standards and specifications.
• Review and authorize engineering drawings and vendor submissions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Civil, Structural, and Electrical Engineers.
• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and necessary documentation.
• Assist in proposal development by providing technical insights.
• Willingness to travel several times a year for site visits and client meetings.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program.
• Over 6 years of relevant experience or a proven equivalent of experience and/or education.
• Professional Engineering licensure in the United States or the capability to obtain licensure within two years.
• More than 10 years of mechanical engineering design experience related to water, infrastructure, or similar industrial mechanical equipment (preferred).
• Familiarity with locks, dams, and other substantial waterworks structures (preferred).
• Mechanical design expertise of gates, hoisting systems, actuators, or large-scale mechanical systems (preferred).
• Experience with cranes or other lifting apparatus (preferred).
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and hydraulic schematics (preferred).
• Experience with large pumps, pump stations, or pumping systems (preferred).
• Background in heavy steel fabrication, welding, construction, and/or large-scale mechanical engineering projects (preferred).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, or other 3D design software (preferred).
• Competence in Microsoft Excel (preferred).
• Proficient with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and analysis techniques (preferred).
• Experience in hybrid working environments with multidisciplinary teams (preferred).
