This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.
• Creating design solutions that bring advanced reactor technology to fruition.
• Designing components and mechanical systems for manufacturing equipment in fuel production facilities.
• Engaging in concept generation, CAD modeling, analysis coordination, documentation, and readiness for fabrication.
• Collaborating with other engineering teams to establish design and functional requirements.
• Utilizing CAD tools to convert functional requirements into robust design solutions.
• Conducting and participating in design reviews, offering and receiving technical feedback.
• Assessing mechanical designs to identify shortcomings and recommending solutions.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials.
• Working closely with analysis teams to validate designs.
• Conducting manufacturability reviews, tolerance studies, and assessments of DFM/DFA.
• Generating and maintaining clear and precise engineering documentation.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 5-10 years of experience, including at least 4 years of industry experience in mechanical or structural design in areas such as aerospace, automotive, energy, or industrial equipment.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks), covering part modeling, large assemblies, and detailed drawings.
• Experience with CAD version control utilizing PDM/PLM tools (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill).
• Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, including DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings that apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 or comparable standards.
• Familiarity with material selection (especially metals), manufacturing methods, and fabrication techniques.
• Proven capability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, integrating feedback from analysis, manufacturing, and systems engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present engineering work clearly.
• Comfortable engaging with external manufacturers and engineering consultants for support in fabrication and analysis.
