Market Curation Editor – Sports

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Review a daily queue of system-generated sports markets while adhering to a set completion timeline.

• Evaluate candidate markets for factual correctness, clarity, and adjudicability using authoritative sources and specified settlement dates.

• Verify the opening and closing times of events, accounting for both scheduled and unscheduled delays.

• Implement league-specific settlement protocols including overtime, shootouts, postponements, abandonments, minimum-play thresholds, and statistical adjustments.

• Ensure adherence to community standards and content guidelines, raising any ambiguous or sensitive cases for further review.

• Approve, edit, or reject candidates and document a structured rationale for each decision made.

• Rewrite questions and resolution language to enhance precision and utilize terminology familiar to sports fans.

• Author timestamped clarifications for any ambiguities in live markets and address settlement exceptions.

• Monitor live markets for inaccuracies and keep track of schedules, team news, and social media platforms for any overlooked events.

• Engage in weekly calibration sessions with fellow curators.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in sports trading, sports data operations, sports journalism or editorial, or a similar role that demands current subject-matter expertise.

• Demonstrable and up-to-date fluency in sports across both professional and collegiate leagues in major sports.

• Proficient understanding of sports culture and sports-related social media, including trades, free agency, and breaking news updates.

• Familiarity with official rules and settlement conventions for major leagues.

• Knowledge of reliable sources for official results and statistics.

• Proven ability to judge suspended and abandoned events, statistical corrections, contested outcomes, and ambiguous official rulings.

• Ability to swiftly interpret official sources and arrive at a defensible conclusion.

• Exceptional written accuracy under tight deadlines.

• Capacity to draft clear and unambiguous rules that remain valid post-outcome.

• Comfort in applying a written policy framework, with an instinct to escalate issues rather than making assumptions.
