Managing Strategist, Email

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary email contact for various client accounts — leading client discussions, crafting and clarifying email strategies, liaising with clients, establishing content calendars and objectives, composing, proofreading, and editing engaging emails, overseeing client approvals, executing email production, analyzing outcomes, and optimizing based on performance and client insights.

• Create written content for clients, encompassing emails, advertisements, and SMS messaging, with an emphasis on more intricate writing assignments.

• Review and assist in verifying facts within content prior to delivery to clients or supporters.

• Delegate tasks to team members, managing workload across a group of writers.

• Supervise team members within the department and contribute to departmental enhancements, which includes conducting performance reviews, overseeing employee development, making recommendations regarding raises/promotions, and managing disciplinary actions.

• Develop inventive, data-driven email strategies that yield substantial results during urgent response situations, while also positioning programs for long-term success — generating innovative ideas to distinguish programs.

• Support direct reports in enhancing their expertise by contributing to or managing account strategies.

• Frequently work autonomously while also offering assistance across the team, sharing best practices with direct reports and the broader team, while providing coverage as necessary.

• Ensure that all content reflects the genuine and transparent voice of the client, and that each program is tailored to the specific client.

• Regularly conduct A/B testing on topics and strategies for clients, while staying informed on digital trends and tools, ensuring proactive innovation for our clients.

• Collaborate with strategists, other managers, and members of the paid media and content teams to create comprehensive strategies that optimize results across clients.

• Generate creative email concepts for clients and foster a collaborative team environment.

• Consistently utilize and/or test prototypes for technical solutions that leverage emerging technologies to address specific workflow challenges.

• Respond to current events in real-time as necessary, by drafting and producing swift communications in reaction to rapidly developing news.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience and success in managing direct reports or equivalent roles.

• Extensive background in composing fundraising emails for political candidates/organizations and nonprofits.

• Advanced understanding of digital strategy and email fundraising.

• Comprehensive knowledge of email best practices including change theories, creative writing, A/B testing, error-free writing, and email formatting.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, time management skills, and attention to detail.

• Proven experience in 'thinking outside the box' and identifying creative solutions to complex challenges.

• Capability to manage multiple demanding tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines when required.

• Proficiency with G-Suite tools including shared Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.

• Experience in reading and analyzing data to inform decision-making processes.
