This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership and lead AIOA's Nonprofit Practice as an independent business unit, complete with its own team, clients, and P&L responsibilities.
• Define the strategic direction of the practice while ensuring practice-level client outcomes, growth, profitability, team well-being, and performance metrics.
• Manage client portfolio retention, satisfaction, Net Promoter Score (NPS), and identify expansion opportunities at the practice level.
• Act as the escalation point for complex or high-risk client situations that exceed the CFO's scope.
• Establish quality benchmarks for nonprofit financial advisory services, encompassing audit readiness, grant compliance, fund accounting accuracy, and reporting to boards.
• Propel service expansion through CFOs and closely engage with qualified nonprofit opportunities identified by Business Development.
• Provide workbook analyses and facilitate Value Workshops.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with auditors, legal advisors, funders, and networks of nonprofit leadership.
• Recruit, develop, retain, and manage the capacity of the practice team.
• Hold CFOs accountable for client outcomes, team health metrics, and adherence to Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) commitments.
• Create career advancement pathways and professional development plans across practice roles.
• Oversee revenue, cost management, profitability, budgeting, and the complete practice P&L.
• Formulate and implement annual practice plans that include growth targets, hiring strategies, and service delivery objectives.
• Present practice performance metrics to the EVP of Operations utilizing Scorecard, Rocks, and L10 meetings.
• Enhance process improvements and best practices for nonprofit service delivery.
• Strengthen AIOA's external reputation through participation in industry events, publications, and referral networks.
• Stay informed about nonprofit accounting standards, regulatory changes, funder requirements, and sector trends.
• Advocate for technology standards and support the introduction of new service lines or delivery methods.
• Complete time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly Rocks.
• Engage in the Brand Ambassador program while adhering to security practices.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• 12–15+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit accounting and financial leadership roles.
• Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and holding teams accountable for outcomes.
• Extensive knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, audit management, and grant compliance.
• Proven experience in managing client portfolios and delivering practice-level business outcomes.
• Established presence or network within the nonprofit sector.
• Executive-level communication skills with nonprofit leaders, boards, and external advisors.
• CPA designation is strongly preferred.
• Experience in multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environments is highly desirable.
• Strong preference for candidates with P&L ownership or business unit management experience.
• Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is preferred.
• Open to internal AIOA CFO candidates who are prepared for practice leadership roles.
