This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develop and implement comprehensive project financing strategies encompassing debt, equity, tax equity, and hybrid financing frameworks to facilitate the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy assets.
• Supervise all elements of tax equity financing, including managing relationships with tax equity investors, structuring partnership flips and sale-leaseback transactions, and ensuring adherence to IRS guidelines and market best practices.
• Cultivate relationships with financial institutions, investors, sponsors, and tax equity partners to secure funding and optimize the capital structure.
• Direct the negotiation and execution of term sheets, financing agreements, and closing documentation. Guide internal and external teams through due diligence, structuring, and closing processes.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks linked to renewable energy projects, such as credit, interest rate, and market risks.
• Work in close collaboration with Development, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Operations teams to evaluate project viability and enhance transaction readiness. Provide mentorship and leadership to finance and investment teams.
• Review and authenticate complex financial models employed for project valuation, return analysis, and scenario planning.
• Track industry trends, policy shifts, and capital market dynamics to inform strategy and boost deal competitiveness.
• Provide guidance to HQ on capital planning, M&A opportunities, and portfolio strategy, contributing to long-term corporate growth.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, or renewable energy finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
• Demonstrated experience in structuring and closing tax equity transactions.
• In-depth knowledge of tax equity instruments, partnership flips, inverted leases, and other federal tax credit monetization structures.
• Strong network of tax equity investors and financial counterparties.
• Expertise in financial modeling and return optimization related to tax-driven deal structures.
• Experience collaborating with legal counsel and advisors on compliance with market standards for tax equity financing and project financing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an MBA, CPA, or CFA is highly preferred.
