Manager, Third Party Logistics, Warehousing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Identify, assess, and establish offsite warehousing capacity for the U.S. data center construction program.

• Provide site selection, layout, and capacity-planning insights to the Director.

• Define operating models and SOPs for receiving, put-away, storage, staging, kitting, and outbound release.

• Set material-handling, storage, housekeeping, and security standards that comply with OSHA and company EHS requirements.

• Execute site-readiness tasks, including racking and yard layout, equipment, labor plans, signage, and access control.

• Oversee facility costs, space utilization, and scalability as project volumes fluctuate.

• Select 3PL warehousing and value-added service providers via RFI/RFP, site audits, scope definition, and commercial assessment.

• Negotiate and manage contracts, rate cards, and statements of work with 3PL providers.

• Maintain relationships with providers, overseeing SLAs, KPI evaluations, escalations, and continuous improvement strategies.

• Validate 3PL invoicing and additional charges, driving cost reduction and productivity initiatives.

• Keep a list of qualified alternate providers for quick capacity expansion.

• Implement processes for receiving, inspection, discrepancies, and damage claims.

• Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis.

• Support the implementation of the formal inventory management platform and WMS, including requirements, configuration, go-live, and training.

• Apply standards for item master, location hierarchy, asset-tagging, and serialization.

• Report on warehousing KPIs, including inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock times, order fulfillment, shrinkage, storage costs, and space utilization.

• Coordinate inbound freight, customs clearance, and internal equipment movements in line with warehouse receiving and release schedules.

• Plan staging, kitting, and sequenced material releases to job sites.

• Manage outbound release documentation, chain of custody, and proof of delivery.

• Oversee returns, surplus, redeployment, and disposal of excess or decommissioned materials.

• Develop and manage the offsite warehousing operating budget, forecasting storage and handling expenditures.

• Collaborate with Finance on accruals, cost allocation, and visibility of inventory carrying costs.

• Ensure compliance with insurance, EHS, security, bonded storage, and FTZ requirements where applicable.

• Formulate business continuity and contingency plans.

• Lead, mentor, and scale warehouse supervisors, coordinators, and 3PL site teams.

• Collaborate with Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Center Operations, Asset Management, IT, and Finance.

• Work with the Logistics Manager to deliver a seamless physical supply chain.

• Deputize for the Director regarding warehousing and inventory issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in warehousing, 3PL management, or inventory operations.

• More than 3 years of experience leading teams and/or third-party providers.

• Proven experience in establishing new warehouse or 3PL facilities, including providing input on site selection, layout, SOP design, and go-live.

• Experience in selecting and managing 3PL warehousing providers, encompassing contract negotiation, SLA/KPI governance, and cost management.

• Strong understanding of receiving, put-away, cycle counting, stock accuracy, kitting, and staging processes.

• Practical experience with WMS/ERP systems, including transitioning from manual or spreadsheet-based tracking to a formal system.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to hold providers accountable and collaborate across construction, engineering, and finance teams.

• Willingness to travel domestically up to 30–40% to warehouses, logistics hubs, and active construction sites.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting data center, hyperscale, colocation, or large industrial capital construction projects.

• Preferred: Familiarity with long-lead electrical/mechanical equipment and IT hardware handling.

• Preferred: APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply chain credential.

• Preferred: Exposure to bonded warehousing, foreign trade zones, or import staging operations.

• Preferred: Experience in applying Lean/Six Sigma or continuous-improvement methodologies within warehousing.

• Travel as necessary, domestically, up to 30–40%.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States, as IREN participates in E-Verify.
