• Lead and enhance a small, senior team by mentoring on active deals, fostering judgment and technical expertise, and recruiting individuals who enhance the team's capabilities rather than merely increasing its size.
• Establish and maintain a high benchmark for enterprise discovery, technical assessments, and successful implementations that significantly influence new customer acquisition and growth.
• Collaborate closely with Sales as a reliable technical partner on intricate enterprise opportunities, aiding in the formulation of deal strategy, architecture, and execution excellence.
• Work cross-functionally within Tailscale to enhance our approach to conducting proofs of concept, articulating technical value, and translating genuine customer feedback into product guidance.
• Deliver clear, actionable insights to Product and Engineering based on tangible customer use cases and enterprise constraints (rather than theoretical scenarios).
• Keep abreast of trends in cloud computing, DevOps, networking, and security, and assist the team in continually honing both technical instincts and communication abilities.
• Proven experience in leading teams, ideally as a working manager who enjoys engaging with the details.
• Background in a technical, enterprise customer-facing position such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or a similar role.
• Strong, confident, and well-articulated communication skills—you can simplify complex systems, gauge the audience, and convey a message effectively without excessive elaboration.
• Solid grasp of networking and security principles, including cloud environments such as AWS VPCs and Azure virtual networks.
• Practical technical experience with developer tools, DevOps practices, and contemporary cloud architectures (CI/CD, infrastructure, APIs).
• Capability to articulate Tailscale’s value in your own terms, grounded in customer results and technical considerations rather than marketing terminology.
