This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects throughout the UK and Ireland, with potential expansion into additional countries in the region such as Sweden and the Netherlands as the team evolves, providing clear direction and facilitating high-quality execution across UK/I.
• Serve as a player-coach by collaborating directly on strategic initiatives, establishing executive relationships, and mentoring your team through complex sales processes to achieve technical success.
• Lead the regional strategy for technical assessments, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept projects, ensuring that customer requirements are effectively translated into significant technical and business results.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with global Solutions Architecture, Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Product Management to synchronize priorities and execute regional objectives.
• Manage indirect relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts, fostering accountability, teamwork, and alignment around shared goals.
• Uphold strong operational discipline in workload management, resource distribution, headcount planning, opportunity forecasting, and field execution.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators for the team, clearly communicating progress, risks, and priorities to your team, colleagues, and senior stakeholders.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-achieving Solutions Architects while enhancing team capabilities, promoting innovation, and building a scalable regional organization for future growth.
• Experience leading technical teams in software or technology sales, pre-sales, consulting, or a related setting, with direct exposure to the UK and Ireland; familiarity with other European markets like Sweden or the Netherlands is advantageous, considering the role's potential for growth in these areas over time.
• Strong foundation in solution architecture or relevant practical experience, with the capability to connect technical depth to customer business value and apply transferable knowledge from adjacent fields while learning GitLab and associated tools.
• Proven track record in developing, mentoring, and scaling Solutions Architecture practices or similar customer-facing technical teams in growing organizations.
• Excellent communication and technical presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across cultures and with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Demonstrated business insight and sound decision-making, balancing technical excellence with commercial results and regional priorities.
• History of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and establishing strong partnerships across Sales, Channel, Marketing, Enablement, Product, and other senior groups.
• Experience in building inclusive, high-performing teams and creating clear, accountable operating procedures in a distributed or remote setting.
• A genuine interest in AI, with a tendency to integrate AI tools into your daily tasks to enhance efficiency and insight, and a vision of how this approach can be applied externally to enrich and elevate customer engagement.
• Willingness and ability to travel in accordance with business requirements and GitLab's travel policy.
