Manager, Software Engineering, Fullstack, Repayment UX Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate a well-rounded team of engineers by establishing clear expectations, providing direct feedback, and advancing each engineer to their next level.

• Take ownership of the team’s technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap, aligning it with initiatives that enhance customer trust and propel Affirm’s business forward.

• Empower the tech lead and engineers to maintain high standards for design and quality, offering hands-on support throughout the technical design process and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

• Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of consumer-critical systems, including on-call duties, incident response, and minimizing operational toil.

• Keep the team delivering in small increments by dividing large programs into sprint-sized milestones with clear accountability.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics, and other Engineering teams to build trust and engage in cross-functional initiatives.

• Guide the team to enhance their output through focus and leverage, incorporating agentic AI.

• Spearhead hiring and onboarding efforts to develop a diverse, high-performing team, while nurturing a culture of ownership, quality, and transparency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience, including over 3 years in managing and developing engineering teams.

• Demonstrated experience in delivering consumer-facing software and driving execution amidst ambiguity.

• A proven track record of managing performance directly by setting clear expectations, providing candid feedback, and fostering engineers towards results and growth.

• Possess the technical judgment necessary to guide decisions related to architecture, quality, and reliability.

• Experience leading substantial technical initiatives from inception to completion, ideally involving the decoupling or re-platforming of consumer-facing systems within defined timeframes.

• Familiarity with modern full-stack development, including declarative UI frameworks like React or React Native, along with a backend-for-frontend setup.

• A calm and decisive demeanor during periods of change and uncertainty, capable of building alignment, resolving conflicts, and guiding others through complex decision-making processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global cross-functional teams.
