📋 Description

• Lead engineering initiatives while managing personnel, ensuring a solid understanding of the codebase and platform architecture to inform technical strategy, influence architectural choices, and mentor team members.

• Propose innovative technical solutions to address intricate frontend platform challenges through collaboration with product engineering, design, marketing, and other relevant parties.

• Maintain close involvement with the code to direct architectural decisions, oversee mobile platform development, and offer technical guidance across React Native, iOS, Android, and the CI/CD and developer tooling ecosystem.

• Recruit, guide, mentor, and inspire skilled engineers, fostering their professional growth.

• Partner with business and engineering stakeholders to develop the roadmap, vision, and objectives for the mobile platform.

• Engage in discussions with Lead and Staff Engineers to devise scalable mobile architecture, enhance engineering practices, and prioritize technical debt.

• Clearly articulate the purpose and rationale behind current and future priorities to the squad and stakeholders.

• Eliminate obstacles for team members, addressing both technical and non-technical challenges.

• Serve as a connection between the squad and the broader engineering organization and leadership, ensuring effective information flow in both directions.

• Act as a spokesperson and advocate for changes initiated by peers, managers, and leadership.

• Co-manage and evaluate metrics to facilitate data-driven decision-making regarding platform health and developer experience, including informed prioritization of technical debt, tooling investments, and developer productivity, in collaboration with engineering stakeholders. Take the lead on implementing improvements when necessary.

• Collaborate closely with fellow Engineering Managers and their teams to balance platform investments with squad-specific feature requirements.

• Implement processes that enhance the mobile design-to-development workflow, working closely with design and product teams to ensure smooth collaboration on shared UI patterns and components.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of software development experience.

• At least 1.5 years of experience in engineering management.

• Practical experience in mobile or front-end development to inform architectural decisions, review mobile platform contributions, and assess trade-offs in upgrade paths and shared library design.

• In-depth technical knowledge in mobile development, including React Native, iOS (Swift), and/or Android (Kotlin) to guide architectural decisions, evaluate mobile platform work, and analyze upgrade paths and shared library design.

• Experience in building and maintaining developer infrastructure such as CI/CD pipelines, mobile build tooling, and platform upgrade programs.

• Familiarity with mobile observability and monitoring tools (e.g., crash reporting, session replay, performance tracing) and the capability to promote the adoption of these tools across engineering teams.

• Understanding of the mobile release process and app store regulatory requirements.

• Background in product analytics and experimentation platforms, along with knowledge of how external vendor infrastructure enhances product velocity.

• Proven ability to create maintainable products or systems, recognizing the cumulative value of platform investments.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively and formulate a technical vision for broader cross-squad infrastructure initiatives.

• Experience in recruiting and building diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Competence in engaging in both technical and business discussions from tactical and strategic perspectives.

• Experience in a rapidly growing startup environment.
